In her first time running for office, using a strong mail-in vote, Delaney was able to narrowly edge out Parrott, with 51.18 percent of the vote (174,514 in total) versus 48.61 percent (165,750) for her opponent, according to the Maryland Board of Elections on Friday, Nov. 8.

"I am deeply honored and humbled by the trust the people of Maryland's 6th District have placed in me," Delaney said in a statement declaring her victory.

"Since the beginning of this campaign, our message has been clear: it's time for common sense, common ground leadership that puts people over politics, defends our freedoms and values, and builds a future centered in unity."

Maryland's 6th Congressional District comprises all of Garrett, Allegany, Frederick, and Washington counties as well as a portion of Montgomery County.

Here's a breakdown of who voted where in the 6th District:

  • Allegany: 9,283 for Delany - 20,035 for Parrott;
  • Frederick: 71,520 for Delany - 64,331 for Parrott;
  • Garrett: 3,321 for Delany - 11,620 for Parrott;
  • Montgomery: 64,259 for Delany - 27,863 for Parrott;
  • Washington: 26,131 for Delany - 41,901 for Parrott.

Delaney, the wife of former Congressman John Delaney, who represented the 6th District for the better part of a decade, ran vowing bi-partisanship, while "bridging the political divides."

"I am grateful for every single volunteer, voter, and supporter who has put their faith in our vision," she stated. "Together, we are dedicated to building a 6th District that thrives on opportunity, growth, and shared community values."
